Mississippi chief supports casino plan

OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi -- As reported by the Mississippi Press: "The new chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians spoke to about 100 members of the Ocean Springs Rotary Club Wednesday about the tribe's proposed casino project in Jackson County.

"'We hope to clear up the miscommunication, misinformation and accusations circulating,' said Chief Beasley Denson. 'This is a win-win for all of us.'

"...'It's not a slot stop. It's a destination gaming resort,' said John Hindricks, the Choctaws' economic developer. 'We want to be part of the bigger picture. We want to be a good neighbor.'

"The casino would create 3,800 construction jobs and 2,800 full-time positions, Hindricks said, and the tribe is willing to pay impact fees to the county..."
