Mad Men Trifecta at the Emmys?

16 Sep 2011

KAHNAWAKE, Quebec -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mad Men, the TV drama that has captivated audiences with its combination of sharp writing and sharper suits, looks like it’s going to be the big winner at the Emmys this weekend.

“A Sterling Cooper trifecta isn’t out of the question.”

That’s according to online sportsbook Sports Interaction, which has posted odds on who’ll claim the big gongs at the TV awards.

Sports Interaction is taking bets on all things Emmy, and Mad Men currently dominates the Drama Categories.

“Mad Men has won the Best Drama award for the past three years,” says Frank Doyle, a betting analyst with Sports Interaction, “so it’s no real surprise to see it so dominant in the Emmy betting.

“Don Draper has become a cultural icon and Jon Hamm deserves to finally win the Emmy. Elizabeth Moss, who plays Peggy Olsen on the show, is neck and neck with Julia Margulies of The Good Wife for Best Drama Actress, and Mad Men is a clear favorite for Best Drama of course.”

In the other categories, critics’ favorite 30 Rock isn’t getting its own way for once in the Best Comedy category, where Modern Family is a clear favorite. The best mini-series award is between the oh-so-British import Downton Abbey and the HBO weepie Mildred Pierce, but it’s Mad Men that’s set to dominate on Sunday.

“The stars are aligning for Mad Men this year,” says Doyle. “A Sterling Cooper trifecta isn’t out of the question.”

Sports Interaction Odds for Best Drama Emmy, 2011
Mad Men 1/2
Boardwalk Empire 11/4
The Good Wife 9/2
Game of Thrones 8/1
Friday Night Lights 14/1
Dexter 28/1
