Kansas Casino Inspection Agreement Made

KANSAS – As reported by the Wichita Business Journal: "The state of Kansas and the Sac and Fox Tribe have reached an agreement that both entities will be responsible for the inspection of gaming machines at the tribe's casino near Hiawatha.

"An engineer that is mutually agreeable to both sides will carry out inspections to certify the machines are working properly and meet current electrical and fire codes, says Matt All, chief counsel to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

"The compact that sets up the Hiawatha casino has a combination of tribal and state regulatory authority. The two sides disagreed over how machine inspections would be carried out.

"The dispute was not connected to negotiations on a compact between the state, the Sac and Fox and the Kickapoo Tribe for a proposed casino in Wyandotte County…"
