Japan: Sumo Association chairman vows clampdown on gangsters

TOKYO -- On his first day in office the new Sumo Association Chairman Mr Hanaregoma took a strong and determined position against organized crime, Kyodo reported.
The sport was recently beset by a serious gambling scandal.
A special committee, investigating the gambling scandal, has established that two lower tier wrestlers participated in a baseball gambling ring, Kyodo reported.
