Hong Kong police smash illegal betting ring

HONG KONG -- A gambling ring, which took illegal bets worth HK$100 million on World Cup football, has been busted by police, Xinhua reported.
The gambling ring had been operating for six months and 25 people were arrested, Xinhua said.
Hong Kong police have stepped up efforts to target illegal gambling during the World Cup and will issue updated statistics on Sunday, the report said
