Foxwoods reaches online gaming deal

22 Apr 2013

By Vin Narayanan
The owner of North America's largest casino, Foxwoods Resort Casino, has agreed to work with the GameAccount Network to deliver online gaming solutions to the U.S. market, Casino City has learned.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN), which owns and operates Foxwoods, is expected to announce the agreement today.

The agreement includes both B2B and B2C components and will initially focus providing play-for-fun online gaming opportunities. Foxwoods will get a play-for-fun site to offer its customers -- and attract new ones. And the MPTN will work with GameAccount to provide turnkey online gaming solutions for other Indian casinos and gaming operators.

Foxwoods.com currently receives 1 million monthly visitors.

As online gaming becomes licensed and regulated in the U.S., Foxwoods and GameAccount will be able to convert the play-money sites into real-money sites.

Connecticut, where Foxwoods is located, doesn’t permit online gaming at this time. The Connecticut Legislature has not indicated whether they’ll consider online gaming legislation this year.

New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada are the only states in the U.S. that regulate online gaming. Gaming operators in New Jersey and Delaware can offer any game allowed on the casino floor. In Nevada, only online poker is legal.

GameAccount is a privately owned online gaming software supplier that focuses on regulated markets. They're known for their large portfolio of skill games as well as developing popular online slots titles and converting land-based slots into online games. They also offer a fully integrated online gaming platform.

The MPTN partnership with GameAccount, which is subject to regulatory approval, brings to an end a thorough, multi-year search for an online gaming partnership.

"The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe has long been a leader in brick and mortar casino operations, and with the help of GameAccount we aim to take the same leadership position in regulated online gaming in the U.S.," said Rodney Butler, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman. "Our shared vision unites GameAccount’s technical capabilities with our Foxwoods brand and our leadership in casino management."
