ENGLAND -- A former British soccer star has admitted in his serialized autobiography that he lost £288,400 ($448,087) in a single bet, the Irish Times reported.

The bet was placed on an Australian cricket match and the ex Liverpool soccer player Dietmar Hamann admitted it was a turning point in recognizing his problems, the Irish Times report said.
