Cherokee Nation reports results
OKLAHOMA -- As reported by the Tulsa World: "The Cherokee Nation's casino operations turned a profit of more than $111 million in fiscal year 2007, according to financial data released by the tribe.
"The casinos earned $418.6 million in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2007. Of that revenue, $20.4 million went toward gaming compact fees, $119.4 million went toward payroll, and $167.2 million went toward operating expenses, according to an annual report on the Cherokees' casino operations.
"The casinos are operated by Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which the tribe owns.
"From the $111.6 million profit, $33.7 million went toward governmental services for tribal members, and $77.9 million was invested in expanding operations and creating new ones, according to the data..."
