Charges laid in alleged 'insider' lottery win: police
ONTARIO, Canada -- As reported by the CBC News: "Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges relating to an alleged multi-million dollar lottery prize insider win, the force announced Tuesday.
"Charges came after police executed a search warrant on an Ontario residence Tuesday morning, police sources told CBC News.
"The charges are related to a fraud investigation, police said, but both the OPP and the provincial government refused to go into more detail until a press conference in Toronto on Wednesday.
"...The announcement comes nine months after Ontario ombudsman Andre Marin handed down a scathing report about Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) practices.
"...In his report released in March, Marin said the government-owned corporation was 'too cozy' with its retailers and doled out $100 million to 'lottery insiders' between 1999 and 2006..."
