Betfair files EU Complaint against German gambling rules

4 Jul 2011

LONDON, England -- Betfair has filed a complaint to the EU claiming Germany's gambling rules are "discriminatory and protectionist", Reuters reported.

The draft rules, which are designed to tackle the current state monopoly on sports betting, include a 16.67 percent tax on all bets, the report said.

A decision on the draft rules has been delayed until October by Germany's 16 states, Reuters added.
