Aztar Corp. ends deal to sell casino in Caruthersville, Mo.
6 Nov 2006
MISSOURI -- Tropicana parent Aztar Corp., which is being bought for $2.75 billion by privately held Columbia Sussex Corp., said Friday its deal to sell a 650-slot-machine casino in southern Missouri had been terminated.
Instead, the casino in Caruthersville will be operated by a supervisor appointed by the Missouri Gaming Commission, once the deal with Columbia Sussex closes later this year.
The Missouri casino was not part of the Aztar transaction. Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex has had contentious dealings with regulators in the state and was not interested in applying for a Missouri casino license.
