Ari Engel wins 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The new king of poker was crowned this evening, when Ari Engel of Toronto, Canada, emerged as the winner of the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event at Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne, Australia, collecting a whopping AUD$1.6 million in prize money.

The largest and most anticipated day of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship is the Main Event part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).

Ari Engel was then presented with the custom made diamond-encrusted rose gold bracelet by LK Jewellery valued at AUD$40,000, representing the game’s ultimate achievement, a trophy and all the glory for his efforts. The triumph was both a mental and physical marathon, after Engel overcame a field of 732 entrants from all over the globe, who participated in Crown’s Aussie Millions Main Event.

The Aussie Millions Main Event, with a buy-in of AUD$10,600, began on Jan. 24, and took eight days to complete, with the final duel being played in front of a packed house and a worldwide audience following the action over the Internet via the live stream broadcast exclusively for Crown by the world’s most successful poker streamer Jason Somerville via Twitch.tv.

Millions more will watch the final crescendo of the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event, along with the finals of the $100,000 Challenge and $250,000 Challenge, also streamed on Twitch.tv by Jason Somerville.

The runner up was World Poker Tour commentator Tony Dunst of Las Vegas. Despite the disappointment of defeat, Dunst collected AUD$1,000,000.
