Alabama Temporary Casino Gambling Paying Off

ALABAMA – As reported by the Montgomery Advertiser: "Montgomery resident Joyce Foster doesn't mind playing games at the Riverside Entertainment Center's temporary casino facility because she knows something bigger and better is on the way.

"The temporary facility opened March 4. Harrah's Entertainment Inc. will manage the permanent $300 million complex, which is expected to open in January 2007. Construction plans include a hotel with 300 to 350 rooms.

"Eddie Tullis, chairman of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, said the current operation consists of one large building instead of trailers and plays several roles in the grand scheme of things.

"…Tullis said the tribe had to move the trailers out of the way so archaeological work on the land could be finished by Auburn University. The temporary facility is larger, which increases the casino's capacity for business.

"Riverside Entertainment Center now has more than 500 bingo-based machines and also uses a timed-exhaust system to clear the air of cigarette smoke…"
